Peter Tong – keyboard
Based in Oakville, Canada, Peter is a veteran in the music business, both locally & abroad.

He was a founding member in North America’s first Supertramp Tribute Act ‘Asylum’ from 1989-1993 as the primary Keyboard Player before the members went their separate ways. ‘Asylum’ had the reputation of faithfully reproducing the complex parts & arrangements that were the hallmarks of a Supertramp record.

Upon disbanding, Peter enrolled in Toronto’s acclaimed ‘Humber College of the Performing Arts’ to further his studies in Jazz & Improv, to Major in Solo Performance.

Immediately upon completion of the Humber Program in 1997, he was off on tour around the world leading his own Top 40/R&B/Funk Quintet ‘Motor City’ which stationed him in such diverse places as Seoul Korea, Beijing China, & Dubai UAE, as Band Leader, Keyboardist & one of 4 Lead Vocalists.

A final last minute acceptance of a Boat Cruise Gig (travelling from Barcelona to Turkey) on the then ‘World’s Largest Cruise Ship’ (the Grand Princess of Princess Cruises) with the Top 40 band ‘Johnny Danger’ as Keyboardist, capped his world-travelling career in 2000 when the decision to permanently settle back into Canada was made.

For the next 6 years, Peter would go on to become an independent Jingle Writer in Toronto for TV & commercials (some notable clients include City TV, MuchMusic, MuchMoreMusic & Global TV, from jobs writing Show Themes to Series underscores and background music), while performing locally with ‘Motor City’ on the Top 40 circuit & for Corporate Events by night. All the while, he operated his independent Production company, P.T. Productions Music Services, providing Producing/Engineering/Recording services from his Recording Studio.

A recent chance encounter with an Absolute Journey member about the possibility of being an occasional Keyboardist substitute, lead to being asked to join the band permanently & the rest is history!

Possessing just the right balance of Classical, Pop, Blues, Prog, & Rock chops, as well as being a die-hard Journey fan for as long as he could remember, Peter is the man to recreate Jonathan Cain’s signature keyboard style for Absolute Journey.

Besides performing with Absolute Journey, Peter is currently rehearsing for another soon-to-be-revealed Tribute Act in the Late70’s Rock/Fusion genre featuring the ground-breaking work of keyboard legend, Jan Hammer.

For Peter, the wheel in the sky really does keep on turning…
